Rotary Outbound Orientation #1

LAKE YALE!!! EXCHANGE STUDENTS!!!
This past weekend was the RYE Florida outbound orientation at Lake Yale.  We spent our days listening to presentations by Rotarians and Rotex, most of which were interesting.  We played games, socialized, and made amazing friends.  I spent time with a lot of my fellow South American outbounds, all of whom are awesome.

A lot of our discussions this weekend were dominated by the 6 B's: Be First, Be Curious, Be on Purpose, Be Grateful, Be of Service, and Be Here Now.  Basically these are the tenants of a good exchange student.

After this weekend, I feel so much more prepared for my departure in 8 months... Whoa... 8 MONTHS.  How crazy is that?  There is so much left to be done.  I have multiple assignments from Rotary, including a 12 page research paper on Chile and multiple language learning tasks, and I still have my regular school schedule to deal with.   All in all, I'm more prepared to leave, but not ready to leave tomorrow, but that's not to say if somebody handed me a departure ticket for tomorrow I wouldn't take it.

Tchau! (I learned so much Portuguese this weekend)
